The theme for the April contest is “LIGHT” sponsored by Focus on Photoshop Lightroom by Dave Stevenson and Nik Rawlinson

Focus on Photoshop Lightroom is the latest addition to our Focus On series.  Each book in the series focuses on a specific area of knowledge within photography, cutting through the often confusing photographic jargon to focus solely on showing you what you need to do to capture beautiful and dynamic shots every time you pick up your camera.

Focus on Photoshop Lightroom teaches you how to stay organized by using Lightroom’s industry-standard keywording and captioning features, bring out the very best in your photography with the processing module, and how to create image presets that make polishing a series of images quick and easy.

Expert photographers and Lightroom users Dave Stevenson and Nik Rawlinson lead you through the ins and outs of the program with easy-to-follow steps and projects to get your creative juices flowing!

Dave Stevenson and Nik Rawlinson are our guest judges this month.

Dave Stevenson is a UK-based photographer specializing in wildlife and nature photography.  He is also a journalist and writes stand alone articles for magazines such as Digital SLR User, MacUser and websites such as PhotoRadar.com. He is a frequent contributor to the Sunday Times travel and technology sections.

Nik Rawlinson is a UK-based photographer and journalist, formerly editor of MacUser magazine, and before that deputy editor of Personal Computer World. He is currently CNET’s resident camera reviewer. He is also the co-author of Apple Aperture 3: A Workflow Guide for Digital Photographers, published by Focal Press.

The first case is the typical case presented for using focus stacking. The you’re stopped down to f/22 but you still don’t have enough depth of field for the shot. Typically, this is combined with macro photography, where depth of field, even at tiny apertures, is incredibly shallow.
